Description of the Activity
Five Lions clubs in the Province of Turin, represented by area president Matteo Serluca, joined forces and decided to support the worthy reality of the Rare Diseases Children's Federation, which has been helping children with rare diseases, for which there is no diagnosis, and their families since 2000.
Dr. Luca Nave, Secretary of the Federation, illustrated the three main areas in which their work takes shape: in-hospital activities (at the Piedmontese excellence of Regina Margherita), the listening space, and training.
Within the in-hospital operation is the “Gift Me a Diagnosis” project that supports the more unique than rare cases, as described by the Federation's President, Prof. Giovanni Battista Ferrero, with the bio-psycho-social care of the child and his parents.
Very touching was the testimony of Prof. Lidia who recounted her experience in her dual capacity as a teacher and mother of a child with a rare disease.
