Meeting with Families
on the occasion of "International LGS Awareness Day"
Department Supervisor: Simone Baldovino.
Date and place: 5 November 2022, Novara
Description
Lennox Gastaut syndrome (LGS) is an epileptic encephalopathy, a rare disease. It accounts for 1-2% of all individuals with epilepsy with an onset between 1-8 years of age but also possible in adulthood. The intellectual disability and behavioural problems associated with the syndrome affect quality of life. The care of the person with LGS and the family must therefore be based on a multifactorial and evolutionary approach, considering both organic and psychological and social aspects. Recognition of all these aspects and their care require sharing between the various operators and the family in order to build a sustainable life project. The different skills and experiences present will be compared in this scenario to improve the care pathway.
