Presentation
The exhibition is articulated on the results of the anthropological research La Stoffa del Dolore, carried out by Federica Manfredi (medical anthropologist) at the University of Turin from March 2023 to February 2024 under the scientific supervision of Professor Raffaella Ferrero Camoletto.
The qualitative research resulted in the artistic-scientific exhibition The Vulvar Pain. Art. Science. Resistance. as a public engagement project funded by the 2024 call for proposals of the Dept. Cultures, Politics and Society of UniTO as a multi-sensory awareness-raising device on the cultural taboos that intervene in the difficulties of care by those suffering from pelvic and vulvar pain.
From these preliminary results, the need emerged to continue exploring difficulties and strategies experienced in the care of female genital pain by healthcare professionals: this intent is developed within the project Dare Voce al Dolore. Exploring Accessible and Inclusive Care Practices for People Suffering from Pelvic and Vulvar Pain, led by Professor Ferrero Camoletto (PI), and the socio-anthropological team composed of Federica Manfredi, Nicole Braida, and Nicole Bonfanti and co-funded by the Fondazione della Cassa di Risparmio di Torino from January 2024 to July 2025.
The objective of this proposal is to develop an educational and knowledge co-construction pathway, articulated on the sharing of the results of the mentioned research and the collective exploration of strengths and difficulties by those who support pelvic and vulvar pain patients and patients: physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, health care workers, health subject students and others involved in the care pathways.
