On Friday, January 26th, at 5:30 PM in the Furlan Hall (Blu Viola) of the Didactic Center of San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital in Orbassano, the opening Lectio Magistralis of the first-level Master's in “Science Communication” at the University of Turin was held.

The inaugural lecture "ARMED WITH SCIENCE" featured distinguished guests Senator for life Elena Cattaneo, pharmacologist, author of the "Armed with Science" essay (2021), in dialogue with Gabriele Beccaria, chief editor of the Health Hub at the Gedi Group and head of the weekly newspaper "TuttoScienze" of "La Stampa.".

The first Master's in Science Communication at the University of Turin is an initiative of the Department of Clinical and Biological Sciences and is open to all undergraduate degrees. Enrollment for the academic year 2023-2024 was closed on December 15, 2023.

The dual-voice lecture on January 26th, representing scientific research by Elena Cattaneo and journalism by Gabriele Beccaria, was the right opening for the first Master's in Science Communication at UniTO, a course aimed at addressing current scientific issues with the dual approach of academic depth and journalistic communication. The master's objective is, indeed, to train individuals skilled in scientific research capable of conveying news to the general public.
